I see it all the time, my friend.
And you on this list, at least the “tuned in” ones, probably do as well.
All around us, you’ll see people trying to be what they “aren’t”. (unless they are idiots that have never stepped out of Mama’s basement and have done nothing else other than waste their lives)
What do I mean?
Not necessarily people lying or saying something about themselves that isn’t true.
But consciously or not, I see people ALL around me making choice – lifewise – fitness wise – fashion wise – that isn’t “them”.
Yours truly was guilty of this at the age of 13 when he wanted his hairstyle to look like (what was back then) my favorite movie star.
And hey – nothing wrong with that – especially at that age.
But his hair texture was different.
Mine is different.
Though at that age I didnt realize the “power of the hair”, hehe I did know I never wanted short hair as I’ve been told to have all my life (yours truly “rebellious”) … and never have.
I’ve been “forced” to lop it off on occasion, but it’s always grown back.
Long, flowing, Jesus like … hehe. It was no coincidence dude gave me that name at the age of 19!
But anyway, hero worship and passing fancies are one thing.
It’s quite another to consciously or (usually) subconsciously try to be someone you’re not – and in the latter case it’s usually done for subconscious “approval” from the other person.
Sometimes, it’s best to let go, my friend.
If the other person doesnt “like” you for who you are, what you really are … well, it’s not a good fit in whichever way!
And anyway, this shouldnt be compared to “aspiring”.
You see a super fit guy or gal, and you think “I want that too”.
Ain’t nothing wrong with that, except you do it your way and remember that you are YOU – not him or her (and same for him/her).
If there is one concept Pyscho Cybernetics emphasizes repeatedly, it is this.
I’ve known this all my life, yes (or “sensed it” I should say) but I never fail to pick up new and more interesting insights in that regard every time I read, scan through or simply flip through the book.
You are YOU.
You’re better than MOST, or all people in SOME things, or perhaps one thing. (remember that bit about doing in life, and otherwise that ONE thing even your most ardent detractors cannot, no matter how hard they try – find real fault with?)
If you can figure that out, and go after it, then THAT is your “path in life”.
Stray if you wish, but you’ll never be fully content, satisfied, and happy if you do.
‘Tis how life works.
And back to “better” – virtually everyone is “better” than you at something.
For whatever reason.
I could paint all day long, for instance, but I have no doubt that while I might become a good painter, I certainly wouldn’t become one of the greats.
Not saying I “couldn’t”.
But some people are just “meant” to do certain things …
And anyway, in my case, life wise, and fitness wise, you KNOW what I mean.
And you too, my friend should find your path, regardless of age or anything else.
Fitness wise, it might mean always living next to hills, nature, and being DRAWN back to the same thing – no matter how hard you “consciously” want to stay away.
Trust me on this one!
It might mean you’re a guy that likes to swim and do the rest of the stuff “on the side”.
It might mean, I dont know, that YOU, my friend, could someday “usurp” me as Mr. Handstand Pushup or Pullup Champ!
In fact, thats the entire goal of me putting all this out.
Sure, it’s a business. Sure, I make money off it. But I wouldn’t DO it if I didnt think YOU Couldn’t improve and better ME at them someday if you really try!
My friend, I’ve been (eventually) bettering my “Masters” or the “gurus” eventually at anything I’ve tried.
So can YOU!!!
And believe me, the day you write back and tell me about it will be the day I’ll edit that particular book, and put your testimonial in int oo, hehe.
All for now – get after it!
Best,
Rahul Mookerjee
PS – Remember to check out Advanced Hill Training, another one of those “Who is rahul” and possibly YOU TOO! – courses. And yes, it WILL burn fat off at record speeds even if you do it at home, or the park, or what not ..
PS #2 – Zero to HERO! is another great read.
