Both of them – and I sure wasn’t expecting this. Woke up this morning after a King size egg infused feast last night post a 72 hour fast, and man – my shoulders!
I’ve been fasting for 72 hour periods while upping my roadwork times, intensity, duration etc – now since Christmas and New year are the times of the year most people binge, indulge etc – which I keep advising against but idiots nod their head and do that same thing anyway – “Rahul’s on again” (yeah, like Goggins said you’ve no fucking idea how irritating your lazy asses are, I just don’t say it) – I figured I’d do the polar opposite and go on fasts. So I did..while upping my physical activity daily.
Most post photos etc on social shedia – not a Tai Po that – about “ending the year off well” with vacations, money, food etc – all crap that ultimately doesn’t matter.
Your body and mind – the most important things. And I sure ended the year off with a massive bang in that regard. Yesterday of course I had to do a ton of isometrics to ring the new year in – more on that later.
Back in the day when I was a skinny pot bellied (tiny, but it was there) 17 or so, I remember our PE instructor making us run laps around the soccer field. In the summer heat of India…
Man..
I was weak as hell then. The girls seemed to throw the shot put further than me – it was embarassing!
But the running – man! Despite all the walking, standing, physical punishments in school etc – that run kicked my ass big time. Not just mine – one of my fitter friends remarked as he passed by painting “everyone is going to get their ass kicked in this one”.
I was sore in areas I didn’t even know existed depsite not being really overweight. Chest, legs, areas you wouldn’t think running taxes – flat field, no roadwork, just two or three laps. Still remember asking Mom “why are my triceps so sore” – haha…
Fat – not a typo, haha – forward a few years, Ann Lee kicked my arse on the hill – and man, that first climb! I was sore for days again after that, including my forearms which you wouldn’t think get taxed during a climb (remember I was lifting weights back then too!) ..
I don’t know why I’m bringing that up here.
But today as I wake up with both shoulders so sore (not so much pain as in SORE) I was literally screaming out loud removing the blanket off my body. Haha. . . I mean, just extending the arms forward is tough for the pull-ups stud and handstand pushup champ.
Just goes to show you, you can keep challenging yourself.
Most people listen to me telling them about roadwork, nod and do nothing.
I cannot tell you how irritating that is. If you read this, do nothing – you’re a fucking loser. Man, nothing compares to roadwork out there on the roads. There is a reason boxers, wrestlers etc swear by it.
Squat all you like, trek all you like, sit your fanny in the gym all you like, it don’t replace roadwork. Period.
And if you read this, burp on to the next beer, yawn, and do nothing – this site, this list – is NOT for you.
Neither is it for you if you’re just sitting on it and never BUYING anything. Look, I can solve your problems only if you let me solve them. And simply being a ghost and haunting the email list for free tips doesn’t cut the mustard friend.
If that’s what you want, plenty of other nice guys out there that will give you just that – go pester them.
I’m the asshole that delivers results. If that’s what you want, fine, if not, fine as well…
Anyway..
I initially thought poor sleeping posture brought on my sore shoulders..
Upon analysing it, no. It’s all the roadwork plus the long pull-up sessions etc – plus the fast – like DOMS, this is my body telling me “ouch”.
Funnily enough legs, calves etc ?
They feel like I haven’t even been working them!
Despite the ton of walking I’ve been doing in ADDITION to the above.
And it’s really a loose, flexible and strong core that is the reason there. Posture is very important while running and core stability is key.
As it is with everything else.
Anyway..
The cure for my super sore shoulders?
More, not less.
And I did a lot from Corrugated Core this morning – and later on, it’s going to be a lot more isometrics for the lower body.
There’s the lesson for the day.
And the products to buy.
And thats that..
(Yes, I’m all about selling my friend – responding to an idiot who was whining about this. Plenty of other email lists you can haunt if spending money to solve problems ain’t your cup of tea. And no, simply throwing money at a problem won’t fix. Action will.).
Best,
Rahul Mookerjee
