How “reasonable” is your “reason”?

Dear Reader,

Back in the day, when I was fresh out of college, as I noted before I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life – except that I wanted it to be something fresh – something new – on a darn near daily basis.

This, of course, as I’ve mentioned before was anathema to some of my family members, all of which who advised me to “take the path well trodden”, or in other words, “the safe path”.

And I’m not down on them for suggesting this. Although that’s not me, and has never been me – and will never ever be, they had their reasons for saying this, but anyway, so back to “back in the day”.

Though jobs were tough at that point (it was the year after 9/11), and though I had completed an internship at one of the biggest multi national companies in the world, I still found it tough as heck to land a decent position.

I finally landed two positions.

One being at a small company where I was pretty much the only “software engineer” (as they put it).

The other at a large, large multinational corporation where I’d be doing what dozens of other coders did on a regular basis – which was to CODE, code, code, and then some.

The first was a risk if you looked at it rationally.

“You’ll never learn anything” scoffed those who were against it (that being pretty much anyone and everyone I told).

And the second was something darn near everyone near me at the time advised me to do. “Oh, it’s a huge company, that has to be the right choice!”

And yet, I went with the first, and it was by far one of the very best decisions I’ve made in my entire life.

Though there was plenty of opposition to the idea, I went ahead and did it anyway – and I followed my gut feeling in doing so.

The main reason for me accepting the job wasn’t because that was the job that ultimately took me to China. Heck, I didn’t even know they had a China operation. All I knew was the company was based out of Florida and needed a tech support guy, and that’s about it.

My reason told me NOT to take that job, and yet, like I’ve done most my life, I ignored my reason and went with my gut, and it turned out to be the very best decision in terms of  career that I could have taken at that point.

Oh, and for those of you that think “small companies are worthless with regard to learning anything”, think again.

I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum, and I can happily tell you that the LARGE companies are where you basically learn ZERO, or close to it, or even less.

The LARGE companies are where you’re a fly on the wall – – a cog in the wheel – – unless “you know someone that knows someone” – – as opposed to smaller companies where you hit the ground running.

It’s kind of like the test of success that I mentioned in an earlier email and that Napoleon Hill wrote about.

As he correctly said, the GUARDIAN to the GATES OF SUCCESS does NOT give up the keys easily. Those that don’t make the grade just don’t make it! It’s that simple.

And that is how it is when you’re working at these smaller companies. You either sink – or swim, as a former employer of mine – – THAT employer where I had tremendous sales success put it.

After I joined that job, not only did they NOT expect the resounding successes we had over the coming months – but I found out that hiring me was an “on the spot” decision made by the boss.

My co-workers at the time were “rationally” ambivalent about it, yet the boss had no hesitation, despite there being no rationale for hiring me at the time!

Last, but NOT least, I can also tell you this – I’ve never achieved more than I have in the SMALLER companies I’ve worked at – – as opposed to the larger companies where I hated literally every minute.

Anyhow, the reason behind me telling you this?

… Is that if you look at any success story over the years – – or any successful person – – or anything that has accomplished anything of any note – – you’ll see two common threads.

First, these people reach decisions QUICKLY – – and change ‘em SLOWLY, if at all.

Second, the vast majority of these decisions are made based upon GUT feeling for the most part as opposed to reason, and they’re usually the RIGHT choice!

As Napoleon Hill notes in “Think and Grow Rich”, do not trust your reason when it comes to making plans to accumulate money. The subconscious gives us plans which may sound incredulous, mind boggling and astounding at the time, but these plans usually trump “rationally thought out plans” each and every time!

Claude Bristol wrote about this as well in his book the “Magic of Believing”, where he repeatedly stresses that decisions made by the subconscious are far, far more powerful and have far wider reaching impact than those made “rationally” – and he’s right.

Now, what does all this mean?

Am I suggesting you cast all caution to the winds? Am I suggesting, for instance, that you jump from a lifelong perch on the ole COUCHOLA to running hill sprints in one bound?

Not at all, my friend.

It’s a matter of considered intuition, and going with your gut once the correct processes and visualizations have been done – – and you’ll know what I mean once you get into flow with all this!

More to the point, think about this for a minute.

Ever been at the point where you were dog tired from long workouts, and yet felt “it was the thing to do” the next day as well despite your reason telling you not to?

You think about it some. And some. And some more. And finally reason wins out, and then you look outside later and think “Gee, that would actually have been the perfect day for a workout!”

This experience is more common than most care to admit, and I’ll tell you this again – always, always trust your gut over your “reason”.  It’ll stand you in good stead throughout your life!

Other hand, there have been times (rare, but they’ve happened) when I was not even a little tired, and yet – – I just knew it was a day for a LIGHT workout.

That doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything. That doesn’t mean I didn’t go for a walk, or a longish walk. I still did it – – but I didn’t push myself as hard, and guess what. I returned back to my regular ball busters the next day, and I ALWAYS surpassed previous bests in those workouts!

So that’s the tale for today. If you “feel” something is right, if you KNOW DEEP DOWN within you that something you are doing is RIGHT – right for YOU – and right for your future goals – then go ahead and just do it.

FEEL it – and then just do it! THAT is really all there is to it, my friend!

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

An instant self confidence formula

Dear Reader,

During my days in mainland China, I often witnessed something that at times I thought was funny – even a curiosity at times.

I’d see folks that were going to work – perhaps at the nearby barber’s salon – or the real estate agencies – or sales reps (primarily) in any sort of shop, biz etc line up “army style” in front of the establishment early in the morning and their “leader” would be standing in front of them.

Being that women make up the majority of the workforce in this regard (sales, customer service etc) here in China, I’d see these neatly dressed ladies – being led by one of their own – and this leader would be BARKING orders to them in a crisp tone of voice, while the rest would stand (literally!) at attention, and repeat what she said verbatim.

It was not unlike in the Marines and other branches of the army where the Sergeant General – or other trainers bark out LOUD orders and affirmations and these are repeated by the cadets – over and over again – in strict letter perfect military style.

Now, in the past I found this way of doing things to be comical (I’m not talking about the Army here; I’m referring to what I said about the civilian businesses in China).

Upon asking a couple of these ladies why this drill was partook of every morning, I got this answer “for more sales”.

OK, so how would barking out orders and standing at attention and repeating them increase sales?

Little did I understand back then – – but I do now.

What they were doing was using a variant, and a pretty effective one at that of Claude Bristol’s “tap tap repetition” technique which essentially states and rightly so that ANY matter – or topic – can literally be hammered into the subconscious if there is enough emotion behind the thought being put in.

And once your subconscious goes into action – well – WATCH out – the results will be a coming down the pike so quickly you’ll be left astounded – and they’ll come in ways that “wonders to perform”, as the saying goes.

And know this – what the Chinese were using was a VARIANT of what Bristol recommended, and successfully so (going by sheer results he obtained) in terms of increasing his sales people’s confidence – – both in HIS own organization and dozens of others in his experience.

In his book, the Magic of Believing, he talks about an EXCELLENT LITTLE technique – – which is in itself a variant on the visualization techniques I talk about in Zero to Hero – – and what others such as Napoleon Hill talk about – – but is indeed one of the most effective, and quickest ways in some cases to get your subconscious to “get the message”.

For some odd reason I’ve been neglecting this technique as of late with regard to my current goals, and I started back up yesterday with regard to ONE goal – and boy oh boy – I feel the self confidence literally COURSING through my veins with just – get this – ONE repetition of what he advises you to do in his book!

This goal is fitness related, and I’ll get into this more later, but for now – the technique.

It’s called the “Mirror Technique for releasing the subconscious“, and believe you me, this is one of the best, and most ultimate tips I can give you in this email newsletter – for free – so listen up.

Take a goal you’ve got. It can be fitness related, sales related, or life related – it doesnt matter. What matters is the goal is something that MEANS something to you!

Stand in front of a full length mirror, heels together, almost “at attention” as it were. Almost as if you were in the military with a Sergeant General in front of you.

If you don’t have a full length mirror, as I don’t – one where you can see yourself from the waist UP works just as well in this regard.

Look at yourself, and repeat the goal to yourself – and as you do so – do so with EMOTION – and PASSION!

This part of course is key to ALL visualizations, but why does it work so well in this case?

Well, its easier to drum up passion when you’re looking at yourself in the mirror.

The eyes are the window to the soul, and when you’re looking DEEP into your eyes and talking “to yourself” about a goal – it becomes VERY easy indeed to drum up INTENSE WHITE HOT DESIRE AND PASSION for said goal – infuse it into your words, and then literally HAMMER it into your subconscious via the words!

Believe me, it works. Way back in the day I used a variant of this as well before talking to clients (back when I was in sales) – and though I didn’t use a mirror, and though I did not know it, I was essentially doing using another one of Bristol’s techniques to increase sales, that being to talk it through to yourself before getting on the actual sales call.

And did it work? Well, it worked so well that I ended up penning a book on it …!

So thats today’s tip. If you’re currently obese, and unable to lose weight – or drum up the motivation for whatever reason, then stand before a mirror, and look into your very SOUL – and ASK yourself – is this the real YOU?

Is this the REAL person hiding inside of you?

CAN you – WILL you become something better?

These questions sometimes don’t get posed forcefully enough to the subconscious when you’re using the regular techniques, but when you use a mirror? They’ll not only get forced through – they’ll get HAMMERED in as well – big time – and quickly!

Try it, and report back on the results!

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

P.S. – Something that most folks do when they stand before the mirror is look at their waistlines and “pretend” they don’t have that extra flab hanging on to their “love” (hate??) handles. Or that the belly isn’t “really that big”. Or that “we’re just big guys!”. And so forth … And while all this is fine and dandy, the fact is that these weak affirmations won’t cut it, my friend.

Stand before the mirror, and literally DEMAND A NEW YOU – NOW! And after you do that, it’s time to get to action – and Corrugated Core offers you the perfect set of tools with which to chisel that lump of lard into a hard, solid, corrugated midsection. The “100 rep” / day challenge

Dear Reader,

I’ve spoken often and at length about the value of doing things a certain way – and also about doing things on a DAILY basis – whether that be related to fitness, biz, or life in general.

If there is one thing in your biz that brings you the greatest returns – well – make sure you do it on a daily basis.

Not “almost daily”. Not “if you feel like it”. Not “well, we’ll see”.

JUST DO IT – on a daily basis!

Ditto for writing – sports – or any other endeavor you partake of.

At one point in my life I was banging out an average of 8000 words per day – DAILY – without a break.

Yes, thats right. 8000/day – that includes the weekend as well, when most people are busy partying it up.

And while I had my own reasons for doing this, the same thing is applicable in terms of fitness.

After writing to you earlier this evening, I went out and had a great, great 100 rep workout. I did 50 pull-ups and 50 dips followed by sprints, but the point isn’t so much what or how I did it – the point is this – I’ve made a commitment to myself to do a certain number of reps daily – and I do it regardless.

And the results are there for all to see.

Emerson famously said, ‘Do the thing, and you shall have the POWER‘.

And if there is ONE thing I’d add to this otherwise immortal quote – it is this – do the thing – and do it on a daily basis – preferably multiple times a day, and you’ll literally reap “power times 10”.

Cause and effect, means and ends, seeds and fruit cannot be severed; for the effect already blooms in the cause, the end preexists in the means, the fruit in the seed.

And as you take a minute to ponder that sage quote (Emerson again) – – think about this as well.

How much would the average Joe – or Jane – or Bubba – benefit fitness wise from making a rock bottom simple commitment to a 100 reps a day?

Now don’t get me wrong. I am NOT saying the reps need to be done at one go – in fact, for most people, doing 10 reps of anything in a row is a chore.

In fact, there are those for whom doing 5 pushups is a current impossibility – – let alone even attempt a single pull-up.

So – – space ’em out over the day. Do ’em in sets. But whatever you do, and whatever it takes – get to 100 reps a day.

And if more people would take up challenges like the ones above, we wouldn’t be facing the pandemics of obesity and other associated troubles that we are today all over the world.

If you just did 100 pushups a day (something that if you’re in good shape shouldn’t take more than 10-12 minutes TOPS) in proper form, and you did that over the space of a year without taking a single day off, thats 36500 pushups over the course of a year.

And your body would change – BIG time – from doing this alone.

But why just 100? Why not start with 50 – or even 20?

IF ALL you did at this point was 50 reps of jumping rope (for those of you that are currently at “beached whale” status) – – and you made a commitment to do just this daily, and you did it – well, guess what.

You’d be a new man – or woman in less than a month’s time.

If ALL you do over the course of a year is 10 pull-ups and 30 minutes of walking per day, and you do this daily – well – same effect.

The key is commitment – and sticking to something once you begin!

It’s not so much the numbers – it’s going out there, and doing something daily – and doing it the RIGHT way, in the right spirit.

Yours truly made a committment to walk 500 steps without stopping at one stage – and guess what – not only did I get there, and surpass that – I think I ended up at 900 plus without stopping for a breath – on a hill at that – but something else happened.

That 900 steps became so easy for me that nowadays I just “fly” up the hill as it were – that same hill that gave me a butt kicking el supremo the likes of which I had NEVER felt the first time I climbed it!

You too, my friend, can get much the same benefits – if you simply make a commitment – and stick to it!

So if you’re reading this – give me a shout out and let me know if you’re up for the 100 rep a challenge for the next year – in ANY activity of your choice.

Do it – and keep  me posted on your progress. Not only am I betting you’ll make a rip roaring success of whatever it is you do – – but I’ll share your tales with the world as well!

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

10 characteristics of a TRUE entrepreneur

Dear Reader,

We hear the terms entrepreneur and entrepreneurship being tossed out so casually these days – but there are precious FEW people who  understand the REAL meaning behind the word entrepreneurship.

We see glossy pictures galore on social media of “so and so” taking “so and so out for dinner” to discuss “X amount of investment” or “the latest idea” – followed by pictures of said “entrepreneurs” discussing things over one drink – and then another – and then another, and …

We see folks post memes and quotes all day long from the ones that have actually been there and done it – but do these people even understand what they’re posting a lot of times?

And I don’t mean understand the words themselves – I mean the meaning behind the words.

Social media like many things these days has become increasingly FAKE, and so have a lot of the tales been spread around.

So anyway, if you’re an entrepreneur – or consider yourself one – take a gander at whats beneath, and let me know what you think!

(Note – there is more to all this – I’m merely talking about the first 10 things that come to mind. If there is interest,  I’ll write more on this later!).

The ability to dare to dream – and dream BIG! –  Are you confident dreaming BIG – and NEW? More to the point, do you have the faith that your dreams will come true if you apply yourself correctly?

Are you willing to take the path less trodden – or barely trodden for that matter to achieve whatever it is you set out to?

Marconi, the inventor of the wireless was once sent to the looney tune bin for treatment when he first proposed the idea of communication via radio waves, and I’m sure others such as the Wright brothers etc met with the same sort of initial “derision”.

This didn’t deter them or the other achievers of yore – and today – what about YOU?

An overwhelming and all consuming DESIRE to achieve one’s goal to the exclusion of everything else –  I’ll condense this into a one liner – if you don’t have a white hot FLAME OF DESIRE brewing underneath your goal – then it’s likely – very likely – that it isn’t going to happen.

Do you live, breathe, eat and sleep your GOAL? Or do you simply entertain the idea of doing so before moving on a few beers and complaining about your day job – or worse still, uttering the “it is what it is” line and letting the status quo remain?

Do you wake up in the morning and think about your goal the first thing in the morning – and the first thing before bed?

And so forth …

SINGULAR FOCUS – Way too many people flit around from one idea to another, not really giving enough time or energy to any one idea to find out if it has value – – and more importantly, to give it time to “sprout”.

Big, big mistake. The real achievers in life focus on ONE thing – and ONE thing alone – and its only after they’ve either succeeded or decided after long trials etc that “that one thing” isn’t worth it that they move on to the next thing (but it’s usually a case of the former with them).

It’s the same thing in term of fitness. Way too many people focus on doing the “next new thing” out there and then complaining about how it doesnt work – as opposed to STICKING TO what has been PROVEN to work – and DOING IT over and over again!

The “git her done NOW” mentality – Those that seem to find every excuse in the book to get it done “tomorrow” aren’t priming themselves for success. It’s usually the exact opposite, and I’ve seen this first hand with folks that claim to have goals.

These people not only flit from “the next big thing to the other” – but when you ask them about any actual progress on the goal – from month to month – or even year to year – it’s always a big fat ZERO, and the same old tale about “the time is never right”.

Newsflash, folks – the time is usually NEVER right. If you’ve got an idea – and are willing to put weight behind it – then do it – NOW!

Lots of folks talk about building a new website – or starting a new biz – or “doing something new”, but you’ll find that when it actually comes time to DO that new thing, for whatever reason, you’ll find them doing the “old thing” all along.

Not my idea of someone that’s priming themselves for success.

A business “financed by Mommy and Daddy” (in other words, a “zero risk” business)- Doesn’t cut it, my friend.

True entrepreneurship in any business requires guts and going it alone. If you’ve got the “cushion” of family or others to fall back upon (note – this is different from getting INVESTORS) – then you’re likely not even in the state of mind where you’ll do what it takes to GET where you want to be.

Case in point being both the online fitness businesses I started – in both cases I pretty much started with zero, and therefore had no option but to …

And that brings me to …

LEAVING YOURSELF WITH NO OPTION BUT TO SUCCEED – Napoleon Hill spoke about this in Think and Grow Rich. He cites an example of a general who ordered his troops – way outnumbered in terms of equipment and manpower to literally BURN their ships once they reached shore.

The troops were left with 2 options.

Win or perish – and win they did!

Precious few people have what it takes to go it wholeheartedly, and BURN all bridges of retreat behind them. Those that do, however, usually make the cut at the end of the day.

FAITH – A topic which most folks pay lip service to, but don’t usually believe themselves. It is one thing to SAY you’ve got faith in your venture – – but deep, deep down inside when you think about it – – do you really have faith?

Are you willing to put everything at stake to achieve your goal? If you want to do a 100 pull-ups, are you literally ready to “forget the world” as you embark upon this goal?

If so, chances are you’ll GET there.

Are you willing to literally burn all other options of retreat behind you, leaving you with no choice but to succeed or else?

If so, chances are you’ll SUCCEED.

Hard questions, and ones you don’t see asked a lot, but they are ones EVERY entrepreneur should ponder at length.

PERSISTENCE  – This ties in what I’ve said above. The vast majority of men that set goals – of any nature give up at the first sign of obstacle or impending obstacles.

As Napoleon Hill once said, “Before Success comes in any man’s life, he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and perhaps some failures. When defeat overtakes Man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to QUIT. That’s exactly what the majority of men do“.

Want a few examples of how persistence can literally skyrocket you to dizzy heights? Look at Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and Edwin Barnes, to name a few … if there was ONE thing in common all these men had (apart from what is above) – it is PERSISTENCE, and the desire and gumption to “keep on keeping on” even during the rough times!

To keep on keeping on when others question your desires – or refer to you as an idiot – or worse.

To keep on believing when everyone around you URGES you to STOP believing, and “get back to the grind” – and so forth.

QUICK DECISIONS – Research any successful man’s life and you’ll find that he has one thing in common with others of his ilk – that being the ability to make decisions on the SPUR and change them SLOWLY.

This alone sounds like anathema to most people, but there is immense value in trusting your gut, my friends – and if you research the lives of anyone you consider even remotely successful, you’ll see this as a common thread.

RISK TAKING – This is again a common thread in the lives of all mega achievers. From Ford to Edison to Napoleon Hill to any modern day achiever – you’ll find nary a person who didn’t take “on the spur of the moment” risks, and do so all the time.

‘Tis true, my friend. Unless you’re willing to take the plunge, you’ll never prime yourself for the ultimate reward.

So that’s my top 10 list of “determining” factors …

Some of these pose uncomfortable questions. None of these are politically correct. But if you look beyond the “uncomfortable” and abrasive nature of the questions themselves, you’ll find great value in the answers you do come up with – if you do.

And by the way, ALL these questions are JUST AS applicable to your fitness goals – as they are life themselves.

Run them by yourself once, and let me know how you do!

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

The INNER YOU

Dear Reader,

Although it’s a well known fact that Napoleon Hill is a bestselling author – – most notably of the book “Think and Grow Rich”, along with scores of other lesser known books – – how many of us have actually taken the time to “read his story”?

Hill is a man whose legacy lives on FOREVER – at least in my mind – and his style of writing is something I can identify with 100% – – if just for the brutally frank and OPEN style he writes, as well as a down to earth demeanor infused with sheer passion.

All of these qualities, and more drew me to Hill’s books when I first heard of him – – and the more I read – – and re-read – – and re-read again, the less I can “get of those books”.

As Hill himself states in his books about many a success “the world sees a man after his success, but not WHILE he’s aspiring towards it” (these words aren’t verbatim – – but paraphrased, but the gist is essentially the same).

He follows this up by saying “Success requires NO apologies – – and failures permits NO alibis”.

Take a minute to ponder that last bit, and yes, that last sentence is a verbatim Hill quote!

There truly is no such thing as “too much of a good thing” – – when it comes to his books – – at least in my own not so humble opinion!

Now, here is the point I’m trying to make.

Amidst all the gems strewn out over the expanse of his writing, there is ONE little gem that is very often ignored, and not quite understood fully by most people.

That being, the Hill line where he says “The REAL turning point in a man’s life usually comes when he is FORCED to discover his “other self” due to an emergency or other pressing situation of some nature”.

And this, my friend is the topic of today’s post – and it’s so vitally important I could literally write TOMES on it.

It’s true as well.

A few years ago, I was confronted with a literal catastrophe – – except it wasn’t financial. It was emotional.

I say a “few years ago”, but it wasn’t that long ago, really. In fact I still recall the emotions bubbling inside of me during “those days” just as clearly as if it was yesterday!

This catastrophe had me PARALAYZED – quite literally.

Unable to do my work. Unable to make plans for the future. Unable to do anything else except put  in long, tough workouts to “rid myself of the pain” – – and this one action paved the way for future successes for years to come, but I did NOT know it at the time.

I was “just doing it”.

I was doing what came naturally – – and more and more of it. There was a tiny little voice inside of me that was constantly telling me – – don’t let the situation keep you DOWN!

And as I worked it out in my mind, I gradually found waking up in the mornings more bearable. I found that life continued as before regardless – – if I chose to LET IT!

I had well and truly been acquainted with my inner self – – at that point.

In other words, we all have a choice to make.

We can either let the situation control us – – or we can do something to control the situation as it is NOW.

And finding the INNER YOU, my friend is key here.

A year or two before this occurred, I was in financial strife. I had NO options left in the “bank” – – and no savings whatsoever to live upon.

If anything, I was living in debt at that point – – not quite as “crippling” as some folks might imagine, but it was steadily mounting with no hope in sight.

And as often happens in these situations, the world didn’t “help me out” when I was down. As the famous line goes, “Life hits the hardest, and it’ll beat you to your knees and keep you there – if you LET IT!”

I doubt I need to explain who uttered those words, but the picture above says it all.

And the reason I’m telling you both of these intensely personal stories today, my friend – is this – if you’re going through a bad time (as many are these days) – then my #1 piece of advice to you would be to FIND YOUR INNER SELF … and do it NOW!

This, my friend is the very best thing you can do for yourself. And once you “find that inner self”, you’ll find a whole new world opens up to you almost instantly.

Believe me now and trust me later, the feeling of “calmness” that comes over you when you find this inner self has to be FELT to be believed.

I still remember that day my inner self visited me during a workout. Suddenly, I just KNEW everything was going to be ok, and subsequent events later that night proved this to be the case.

Now, in terms of fitness, if you’re faced with a  “crippling” reality, such as being way too overweight to do a single pushup – – or squat – – what do you do?

Suppose you’re at the gym trying to lose weight, and you constantly get bombarded with pictures of models and “perfect bodies” staring you in the face – – and constantly saying “hey, this is unattainable for you!”

And so forth.

We’ve all been there, my friend, and the key is of course to visualize – – and everything else I’ve spoken about in the past – but the OTHER thing is, and this is perhaps even more important when the chips are down – is to find your inner self!

Fitness wise, when you don’t feel ANYTHING – – including visualization is working – – take time out to find your inner self as well.

DEMAND solutions from your inner self – – and if you do this long enough and hard enough with enough emotion, those solutions will COME!

And once you’ve got that feeling of CONFIDENCE coursing through your veins, get back on the stick in terms of doing.

Stop beating yourself up about past mistakes. That was the past – – you’re not living in the past – – you’re looking toward a better – – and fitter – – future – – and YOU!

So go out there and DO that first pushup. Go out there and bang out 100 squats in a row. Heck, go out there and surpass my 100 pull-up achievement … I’ll be the first one to congratulate you if you do!

Do these things, and write back and tell me about it – – I’ll share your tales with the world!

Hey – what can I say. As Marc the African Silverback Gorilla once rightly told me “I’ve got your back, buddy!”

And sometimes, that’s all you need to hear to discover your inner self.

On that note, endeth today’s sermon, hehe. If you haven’t already, make sure to grab the 0 Excuses Fitness System – – some of the exercises therein will lead you down a beautiful road of spirituality you never thought you could travel.

I should know. I was there once!

Melt FAT – while eating MORE!

Dear Reader,

Sounds astounding to the extreme, don’t it?

The very idea of “eating more” – – and melting a ton of fat while you’re at it – – and in addition to the “sacrilegious” (yes, I’m referring to the so called “pundits” here) nature of this post – – this likely sounds as the exact opposite of what Rahul talks about as well, doesn’t it?

I mean, I’m the dude that talks about a good diet – good habits in general – and adding exercise (the right way) into the mix to enjoy a long, healthy and ABUNDANT life – – so what AM I on about here??

Well, hold your horses my friend.

I’m not telling you to binge, gorge, overeat, or do anything of that nature.

I ain’t promising you the “moon” without any extra effort – and added gluttony. That sort of thing doesn’t happen here on “terra firma” in the real world.

What I am – and CAN – promise you though is this – there ARE ways you can stuff your gullet more than you’re “allowed to” – – and still make tremendous gains in your fat/weight loss programs – – and that too with LIGHTNING SPEED.

Believe me now and trust me later, there are ways you can literally start seeing results after ONE workout – – which takes less than 5 minutes in all, and that is no exaggeration.

When I first created this course in Feb 2018, I had literally no idea how much interest it would spark. After all,  weren’t folks looking for “down to earth” training advice?

And if they were – – how would they believe in something that sounded downright ludicrious – – DESPITE the results I, and others on this program have gotten?

It seemed like a no-brainer at the time, but as I talk to people I see in daily life – people around me – people I coach, even – there is ONE common refrain amongst them all.

That being, they ALL want to lose weight – and oodles of it – and FAST – and …

… without having to give up on treats, delicacies, their cheat meals, and so on!

And I can’t really blame ’em either. Heck, I don’t know a single person on my contact list that could go without a beer or pizza for over a year (I’ve done this for the better part of one and a half years as an experiment, by the way) – do YOU?

Do you know anyone on your list that is trying to lose weight – – and yet can’t resist those sweet delicacies at the end of every meal?

Anyone that’s a chocolate lover – and whose eyes glow – with DISAPPOINTMENT – at remembering the “fact” that if he/she is to lose weight, NO “treats” are allowed?

Well, I’m betting you can emphasize with some or perhaps all of the above, my friend.

And the good news is this – it’s very, very, VERY possible – and doable – – to HAVE your cake – and EAT it too – and DROP weight at the same time – FAST!

And you too, my friend can do it.

When I first started the exercises in this course, I had NO idea I would drop weight so quickly – this during a holiday season, by the way, when people generally “indulge” a bit more than the norm.

Yours truly was no exception to this either – but believe me now and trust me later, the scales don’t lie – – and I literally ended up losing 0.4 kgs after my FIRST workout using these methods – – and that too within LESS than 24 hours.

And as I progressed, my results just got better, better and BETTER!

You too, my friend can enjoy these spectacular results – if you know how.

And it’s laid out right here for you – – in a concise little manual that’ll be the buy of your LIFE, my friend. Hurry on over to this link and place your order before someone else does – – https://0excusesfitness.com/eatmore-weighless/

Write back with your tales of fat burning – – and I’ll share them with the WORLD!

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

One of the most overlooked body parts

Dear Reader,

If I were to ask you what the most overlooked body part is while training – – or in general – – and gave you the following choices, which one would you choose?

  1. Neck
  2. Forearms
  3. The MIND!
  4. Legs
  5. Back

Many of you would choose A and B (at least those of you that have been on this list or are part of the “0 Excuses Ship” as it were)  – – and rightfully so.

The forearms and neck (along with the lower back, of course) are VITALLY important to train, and they are usually ignored or given “lip service” at best in most training routines as opposed to what I espouse.

But even these aren’t the most overlooked body part by far.

A part of the body that is HUGE – – one of the largest muscles in the body – – takes the prize here, and no, it’s not what you’re thinking. Though the quads are oft neglected as well in favor of the “booby building” (beachboy) muscles, I’m not referring to those here.

No – I’m referring to the HAMSTRINGS.

One of the largest muscle groups in the body, and one which complements the quads perfectly – – and one which is essential to develop for overall leg strength and health, and yet – – I’ve seen few, if any people training them correctly.

‘Tis indeed sad, but first off, why the importance on hammies? Aren’t the quads the most important to train?

Aren’t YOU the one that has been talking about hill climbs – – and squats – – and other exercises that tax the quads big time, you may ask?

Well yes,  I have, but … this doesn’t mean neglect the hamstrings!

First off, overdeveloped (or merely well developed) quads + less developed (or not all) hamstrings = Open Invitation to an injury … NASTY ones at that, and I should know, my friend.

Back in the day, I too did not attach much importance to training the hamstrings.

One fine morning I was running hill sprints. Wasn’t feeling the best to start with, but suddenly, I “pulled” something in my calf and felt it not just in my calf but lower back as well.

It was quite literally a “ting” sound that I heard, sort of like you were to pluck a violin string and it stopped me literally DEAD in my tracks – – I’ll tell ya that!

OUCH!

As I gingerly limped down, worse was to come. As soon as I reached terra firma, I discovered I could barely put weight on my right leg – – the hamstrings to be specific – – and I later discovered I had torn (slight tear, but tear nonetheless) muscles right in the center of the hamstring area.

OUCH x 10. Not only did this put me out of commission for a week or so, but it was painful. I was lucky I drove to the park that morning; it was all I could do to even GET INTO the car at that point, let alone walk back home!

(Since then I’ve made it a point to stretch out the hamstrings and calves FIRST thing after hill climbs or sprints – – and then do anything else later!).

Second, hamstrings are just as much responsible for providing power and impetus in all leg movements as the quads are.

Think of it as you might the “yin and yang”. They both provide energy, and complement each other, and are both equally essential.

And if you don’t believe me, just follow a decent hamstring training routine and measure your sprint timings/results both before/after (both hill sprints and regular) and then come back and tell me.

Last, but not least, training and stretching the hamstrings correctly releases tension from the entire body and works the abs and lower back like never before.

The Chinese say the more pliable your hamstrings are, the less stress you carry around in your body, and they’re right, my friend.

Now, given all this, how exactly do you train the hamstrings you might ask?

Good question. The hammies are a muscle group that respond especially well to stretching and strengthening, and this is exactly how you train them (in essence).

The Hindu pushups done correctly and in proper form, all the way back are an excellent way to train both the calves and the hamstrings.

The stretches shown in the 0 Excuses Fitness System are an even better way to stretch this vitally important muscle out, and FEEL good thereafter.

And if you’re really advanced, you can try and do what the old man does in China – – and what I do, but beware – – work into that one – – it ain’t nowhere as easy as it looks!

Alright, my friend, that’s today’s “sermon” hehe. I’ll be back again later!

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

P.S. – Did you know that one of the best ways of training the hamstrings also works the abs and lower back heavily? That one way is climbing inclines – – works way better for the abs and lower back than climbing stairs does, and I’ve found this out myself. And if you don’t “got” a hill near you?

No problem, amigo – – we’ve got you covered with plenty of other exercises that are just as effective, and that’ll build your abs and core like nothing out there will. Check out the core training manual right here – – https://0excusesfitness.com/corrugated-core/

The value of doing SOMETHING daily

Dear Reader,

I’ve often spoken about how fitness is like a bank balance.

The little deposits are the ones that add up over time – – especially if the deposits are made on a DAILY basis.

Think about it – if you had a savings account where you started off with a big fat ZERO, and put in $2 daily into it – – what would the balance look like at the end of six months – – or a year?

Replace that $2 with an occasional $1 – and the occasional $5 – – and you have an even bigger and better picture at the end of the day!

And these benefits comes from doing something religiously – – and doing that “something” daily!

This ties into what I’ve been saying all along about PERSISTENCE being the key to real and lasting achievement in any sphere.

Napoleon Hill once famously wrote “if you can’t do great things – do small things in a great way!

The only thing missing from that quote is “everyday”.

And this applies to life as well as it does fitness, my friend.

For instance, most of my blog posts are between 650 – 1000 words in length the last time I checked. Way more than the average of “500 or so” words that most “pundits” talk about – – and despite the length, I make it a point to send ‘em out DAILY.

And on the rare occasion that an email doesn’t go out from 0 Excuses Fitness HQ – – you can bet your bottom dollar its either server issues or something I can’t control that’s at play – – and you can also bet I’ve DONE my writing regardless – – offline!

When you pound out a bare minimum of 2000 words a day, writing books becomes EASY. Writing – – of any nature – – which is the hardest things for most people to do, btw – – literally becomes second nature.

And so it is with fitness, my friend.

When I first set out to lose weight and get myself into the sort of “cut and chiseled” shape I’m in now, I made it a point to do what I had to do in that regard EVERYDAY.

That entailed five hill climbs a day amongst other things, and I did so EVERY DAY.

Regardless of the weather. Regardless of the fact that I had a full time job ahead of me after my workout.

Regardless of whether or not it was Sunday. Regardless of whether or not I “felt like waking up” or whether I “had a few beers the night before”.

And so forth.

And the results are there for all to see!

Ditto for my efforts at pull-ups. When I started out doing pull-ups, getting to 5 in ONE set was a chore, my friend.

In fact, to be honest, 3 was a chore at times, but one of the keys to achieving what I have in this regard isn’t simply “doing the thing”.

It’s “doing the thing” – – on a DAILY basis!

I’d do pull-ups daily. Some days were brutal, some better. Some days were GREAT days, but regardless, you’d see me out there doing the thing, and doing it daily!

It’s the same with any endeavor I’ve ever participated in. If it’s anything important to me – – I make sure to do it daily!

So don’t listen to the “pundits” and “so called experts” who tell you to “exercise three times a week so the body can recover”.

Or, those that tell you “working out daily will tire you out way too much”.

Or, that “you need to take it easy. Daily workouts are too intense!”

Or any of the associated BALDERDASH we hear in that regard.

The bottom line is this – if you really, really want to get into the best shape of your life from the INSIDE out – – and stay at that “level”, well, then follow Nature’s rules, my friend.

Animals in the wild don’t do curls on Monday and bench presses on Wednesday, do they?

You don’t hear a giraffe complain about it’s “sore neck” because it stretched it a bit too much to eat leaves, do you?

Neither do you hear an ape complain about it’s “sore arms” from swinging a tree branch too many!

Sure – – these are somewhat extreme comparisons, but the fact is this – modern day man needs MORE exercise – – not less.

Following Nature’s way doesn’t mean turning into a human equivalent of the sloth bear.

It means turning into a human equivalent of King Kong – – if not in terms of sheer muscle – – then certainly in terms of health, strength, fitness and INNER VITALITY – and that combo is something you can only get by doing something every day, my friend.

As I’ve said in the past, you don’t have to make every workout an ass kicker. In fact, you’d be well served to go “light” somedays – – but the point is this – – you make sure to do SOMETHING daily.

Adopt this little practice in your life, and watch the results literally FLOW before your eyes.

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

P.S. – Plenty more such fitness tips are mentioned in the 0 Excuses Fitness System – – including a tip about how to recover much faster and more efficiently from workouts that leave you GASPING and in a puddle of sweat. Hint – getting your breathing back to normal isn’t about gulping down as much air as you can. If anything it’s the exact opposite – – crack open the System, and you’ll see what I  mean – – https://0excusesfitness.com/0excusesfitnessystem/

Why retirement is a crock

Dear Reader,

Today’s post is going to be about something that the vast majority of folks across the globe “look forward to”.

Retirement.

Them sunny days on the beach. With “nothing to do”. The freedom from daily responsibilities and “earning money”.

Enjoying the “last part” of our lives before we ride off into the “ever lasting” yonder as it were.

And so forth.

And while all of this sounds good in theory (myth #1, and the biggest one), practically speaking it’s anything but in some regards.

When I was a little boy, my parents used to rent the top floor of a house owned by a kindly old gentleman who had been working for the Government his entire life.

This old man was one of the nicest men you could ever meet. Always nice, always had a warm smile for everyone – – and I’ll still remember the “pre Gorilla Grip” days when I (I think at the age of 13 or so) once shook his hand and he said “It’s good to see Rahul getting some strength in his grip!”

He retired at the age of 60, I believe, or perhaps even before – I’m not sure.

And one day he took me aside and said the following, “Rahul, we men retire. We have nothing else to do but these ladies … (and here he pointed to his wife, busy dishing up meals in the kitches) … their work never stops!”

My young mind processed this, and as he patted me on the back in a grandfatherly sort of manner, up I went to my “third floor” (or second, depending upon which part of the world you live in, haha) apartment – and promptly forgot about what he said as I busied myself with the latest “Sinclair Spectrum” (remember that computer!!?) video game.

This gentleman died shortly after his retirement, by the way – – while his wife lived on a good ten years or more.

Do you think the kind old man’s “philosophies” regarding retirement MIGHT JUST have had something to do with this?

Folks – – as Dr. Maltz pointed out correctly in his pathbreaking Pyscho Cybernetics book – – human beings as BUILT as goal seeking mechanisms.

That’s how we’re built. We can try to “escape” it, but there’s no way around what we are – – or how we’re programmed to function. That’s just how it is!

In Zero to Hero, and all my other writings I talk repeatedly about NOT resting on your laurels after accomplishing a certain goal.

The minute you stagnate – is the minute you go DOWNHILL – and FAST – and I believe I mentioned this exact line in the book above as well, and ‘tis true, my friend.

It’s 100% PLUS true and the above is just one real life example of what I said.

Too many folks have this idea of retirement being a time when you “do nothing”.

In reality, it should be the BEST time to actually DO SOMETHING – – fitness INCLUDED – – that something you’ve not been able to do or haven’t done your entire life, while there are no external pressures around!

And lest you think age is a factor in terms of achievement, think AGAIN, my friend.

W.C.Fields, noted comedian lost all his money and income during the Depression – – when he was PAST SIXTY when most men consider themselves to be “old”.

And yet, he persisted – – and carried on in his attempts to not just make a living but recoup the “past glories”, and eventually he DID – way past the age of 60!

Marie Dressler, Canadian-American actress and comedian too fell victim to this unfortunate occurrence at the age of 60 (during the Depression) and she too went after life with gusto even at that age – – and got the breaks she was looking for!

And those are but two examples, my friend. So if you’re got the “age is a barrier” mentality – – both in terms of fitness as well as LIFE – – well – – put it to rest right NOW as you read this.

The second (I believe, third, by now?) retirement related myth I’d like to cover is THIS – the myth of  “slogging all life” so you can enjoy the “golden years”.

Hey, I don’t know if it’s just me – – but if we’re doing something that we don’t really like (a.k.a the word “slog”) for the vast majorities of our lives – – then wouldn’t that make our lives kind of pointless in the first place?

Why not AIM towards doing what you like NOW – instead of in the future when you’re “old and grey”?

Why “slog” when you could be “having fun” during your life? The very concept of “slogging” has always been stupendous to my thinking – – what is the entire purpose of LIVING – – or LIFE itself, if each breath, or each action were to be a “torturous slog”?

This one concept seems unbelievable for most people and I don’t blame you if you’re one of the group that thinks “oh, that’s just him talking. He did it, but I never can!”

But I WILL say this – you’re selling yourself short – – and dearly short if you continue through life with that attitude, my friend.

If  “I” am doing it – – and if scores of other successes before me and you have done it – – and retired at an age where most people believe a man “starts to achieve” (ever heard of Edwin Barnes?) – – well, so can YOU, my friend.

Why not make every year a “golden one” – or every day? Better still, every waking MINUTE of your life?

The trick lies in getting your subconscious to BELIEVE you can do it – – and this is accomplished through REPEATED visualization for one; and once you do this, watch out.

You’ll shatter myths, move mountains – – and leapfrog obstacles – – all in one breath seemingly!

I’ll have more on this in the future if you’re so interested – let me know. In the meantime, I’m out – to do some light exercise – something I highly recommend YOU DO as well on a daily basis, my friend.

Here is the System that’ll get you cranking out them “quickies” within no time at all (with no equipment required, and minimal time investment) – – https://0excusesfitness.com/0excusesfitnessystem/

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee

P.S. – And no, age is NOT a barrier when it comes to working out – and if you need proof, well, look at Herschel Walker for one. Dude is a literal machine – and is well past the age of 50, which is about 25 years more than when most people “give up” on their fitness goals and ambitions. There is a VERY GOOD reason I include Herschel Walker in the 0 Excuses Fitness book – you can find him right at the start, actually, and again, for good reason! Drop the excuses now, my friend and get on the program that has been changing lives all over the world – – https://0excusesfitness.com/0excusesfitnessystem/

Confidence x 10 workout

Dear Reader,

I just got done with a blistering workout in my living room. Oh boy!

Took about 40 minutes in all, but to be honest I could have ended it at minute #27 – – or perhaps even at minute #12 – or even #3, for that matter.

In fact truth be told most people wouldn’t get past three or so minutes of THIS workout – – if they even made it THAT far.

What did I do, you might ask?

Well, simple – I started off with a 100 Hindu squats and a 100 pushups. This is essentially a modification of what you see me do in the video – – where I bang out 50 squats, 250 pushups and assorted bridges at the end but it got my attention alright despite the shorter numbers.

At the end of the squats, my legs were starting to FEEL it – despite having done only a 100 squats, I did them in letter perfect form with the right breathing, and it was all the warm up – cum – workout I needed before jumping into the pushups.

The pushups took another 10 minutes in all, and this 13-15 minutes got the blood ROARING, my friend.

Most seasoned trainees would have collapsed right there and then and I wouldn’t blame ’em either.

It’s hot as heck outdoors – and it feels like a CAULDRON without air conditioning in my living room.

I’m used to that though. Heck, I sweated up a storm and then some WITH air conditioning on in China – – and as you saw in the video, the sheer fat burning effect of these exercises is unparalleled.

ABSOLUTELY unparalleled if I might say so, and I finished off (if you can call it a finisher) several rounds of the “ultimate fat burner” I wrote to you about last Thursday.

This one is so intense I only do  it two or three times a week, and it’s been the first time I’ve done it THIS week.

Maybe I’ll go again tomorrow – or on Saturday, but as I sit here, after an ice cold shower, I’m STILL sweating, my friend, and that can only be a good thing.

Not to mention how I FEEL!

I don’t know if you can notice it right about now – but I feel on top of the world and then some!

These short workouts not only burn fat like nothing else – – they not only build muscle, stamina and BULLDOG TENACITY like no other workouts on the planet – – they do something else as well, which probably trumps ALL other benefits.

They leave you feeling GREAT – times 10 – or perhaps a 100!

Again, I cannot state the importance of this enough. These workouts leave you feeling like a billion bucks – DESPITE everything else going on in the world.

Despite whatever situation you might be in at the office.

Despite whatever some of the nuts in the White House might be up to.

Despite the “state of the economy” – – or the sordid news being played all day long on the Tee Vee and other social media – and despite everything else.

It leaves you feeling FRESH – GREAT – and ready to ENJOY life for what it is – – and to feel nigh awesome about LIVING IN the moment – and LOVING it as well!

And that, my friend, is a benefit you can’t get from long drawn out cardio sessions – – or the gym for that matter.

NOTHING can give you the sort of feeling you get after pounding out 25 of the “best darn exercise there is” – or more.

NOTHING can give you the heart pounding feeling you get after a 100 – or 250 – or even 500 squats – – not to mention the MENTAL CLARITY and FOCUS these build!

I’ve said it before a bazillion times and I’ll say it again. These short workouts are what build CONFIDENCE like nothing else. You’ll literally be buzzing from the inside out – – and the effects of this will show up in your life and overall energy levels as well.

So without further ado then, grab yourself a copy of the 0 Excuses Fitness System – – and get started right NOW, my friend.

It truly is the best decision you’ll make today.

Best,

Rahul Mookerjee
